Ambroxan is a classic and one of the most famous and most important molecules in perfumery. It's used in most commercial perfumes as both a fixative and an exalting agent. It's effective in small amounts and adds radiance and projection to perfumes.
On it's own it smells golden, marine and ambery to my nose.
